Class ratios
We try to keep our ratios as small as possible to benefit the child, so that they have the individual attention that they need. Especially with the little ones we have just 4-6 pupils to one teacher, who is in the water with them.
Class days & times
We teach everyday Monday to Friday after school and Saturday mornings. We hold lessons at Broadfields School in Harlow and Burnt Mill School in Harlow. Please see our timetable page for all class times and days.
Lesson Duration
Swimming Lessons are 30 minutes in duration Squad Sessions are an hour long, with 3 sessions available for them
Lessons are taught over 10 weeks
We do 5 Courses a year
Lessons are on bank holidays & through the school Holidays, we stop for 2 weeks at christmas
Prices correct as of January 2012
Option 1: 10 week course £60 or
Option 2: Monthly Standing Order £24
Pupil / Lesson Assessment
A full assessment is carried out for every pupil in our scheme. This details all the criteria for the current stage, whether there is work needed on any area, or if they have passed all areas to gain their Certificate and Badge. Details of the pupils next stage, day and time is also displayed on this form.

We use helpers in the water, these have a CRB, First Aid, NPLQ and are studying towards their ASA Level 1 or 2 Missed Lessons
If you miss a lesson then unfortunately we are unable to refund you for this, if your child is in hospital or signed off by a doctor, then catch up lessons will be arranged or carried over at the discretion of the FTA Company Directors.
Comments / Complaints
Please whether good or bad, all feedback is valuable to us. We welcome any comments, ideas or thoughts you have, as they may enhance the service that we provide to all our swimmers, parents & teachers. We are available by email, website, mobile or answerphone in the main office.
Changing Rooms
Please make sure that Boys aged 8 years and over get changed in the male changing rooms provided and that Girls aged 8 years and over use the female changing rooms provided. This also goes for mums, dads, gradparents, carers etc, please be considerate when getting your child dressed and undressed for their lesson.
What to Wear??
Girls a one piece costume only ~ NO bikinis.
Boys to wear trunks or short swimming shorts, NO long shorts as the boys are unable to kick their legs effectively.
All boys and girls with long hair need to wear a swimming hat, all squad swimmers to wear club hats provided upon registration.
Photography
Parents wishing to take photos of their child, need to gain permission from the reception staff & details taken, this is to ensure the safety of all children and teachers whilst on poolside or in the water.
Jewellery
Please ensure that all jewellery is removed prior to the lesson starting, as teachers are not allowed to remove jewellery or look after items.
Before your lesson
Please ensure that your child has been to the toilet, blown their nose and is generally fit and well. If they have been unwell, don’t bring them swimming, wait for them to recover and then arrange for some catch up lessons. All pupils also need to shower before entering the water for their lesson.
